What's the difference between landlord insurance and standard home insurance?

Landlord insurance is designed for a property you rent out — it typically covers things standard home insurance doesn't, such as loss of rent, malicious tenant damage, and landlord liability.

Do I need landlord insurance if I only rent out one property?

Yes — most mortgage lenders require it for buy-to-let properties, and it covers risks a standard home policy wouldn't, even for a single let.

What happens if my property is empty between tenants?
